First and foremost the Republic of the Philippines
would like to eliminate the operative 1 of UNOL-r1
and replace with this operative:
1)Recommends the ASEAN to determine the future of
the Spratly Islands:
a. any past, present and future GA resolutions shall
be taken into consideration when determining the
final status of the Spratly Islands
b. a summit in Tokyo should be established and
coordinated by the chairman of the ASEAN which
shall include the attendance of ASEAN member states,and
the government of China
c. summit shall determine the final status of
the Spratly Islands
This is a proposed amendment to UNOL-r1. We the
government of the Philippines hopes for sponsors as well
as reactions towards this proposed amendment. Also,
how does the body feel about establishing a demilitarized
zone in the Spratly Islands? We believe that if we
inlude this as a criteria in the proposed Tokyo Summit
Concerning the Spratly Islands, we are preventing future
military clashes in the Spratly Islands.
