The Indian government thanks my right honorable
colleague from the Philippines for his support
on Resolution UNOL-R5. India also shares his
country's concerns regarding the Security Council's
lack of action. India must also point out that
unfortunately the Security Council Resolutions
regarding the Har Homa incident have been vetoed
by the United States, which as a Permanent Member
has the right to block action in the Council.
India urges the United States to reconsider its
position and take a more constructive role in the
Security Council regarding the issue. Even though
the United States has sent its country's mediator,
Mr. Dennis Ross to the Middle East in order to
find a solution to this situation, India would like
to remind my colleague from the United States that
it does not have a monopoly on the peace process.
Every time other parties like the European Union and
the United Nations tries to get involved in the
matter, the United States rebuffs their input.
Having said that, and thanking my right honorable
colleague from the Philippines for his remarks on
the matter, I urge all Member States to support
this resolution.
