It is true that women are still being denied equality in today's society. However, women in Colombia have a more prominent role in society than women life in Mali. Colombian women manages their household and keep everything in their home running smoothly. Their first duty is to raise children. Most middle and lower-class women are employed outside their home and contribute their paychecks to their family expenses. Unfortunately, they receive low wages. But their work is appreciated by their husbands. The way Malian women are denied their equality is unfair. They are treated more like slaves than wives since they work long hours and do not get paid for their work. In Colombia, it is a custom for the whole family to have lunch together. Thus, it is sexual discrimination that women in Mali are not allowed to eat at the same table as their husband. Colombian women have the same right as the men to go to public places, unlike Malian women who are not allowed to go to public places. Therefore, this type of sexual discrimination should be stopped especially in today's society where women have an important role.
