Through further analyzation of the various opinions
in this forum, my country believes that economic and
social development of developing nations must be addressed.
The government of the Philippines is deeply concerned
that many developing nations cannot fund for medical and
educational programs. We appeal to the developed nations
to set aside at least .7% of their GNP to aid developing
nations. This is only a small amount to these developed nations,
but a significant amount to developing nations. Also,
the government of the Philippines hopes that each region
in the world should works towards eliminating all trade
barriers and creating more free trade zones. Trade
barriers often hinder the process of developing nations
because their trade is limited due to unnecessary trade
barriers. Also, the role of trans-national corporations
should be encouraged to aid nations. These corporations
bring a lot of trade and provide numerous jobs to
people. When a trans-national corporation is established
in a nation, 51% of the corporation should be controlled
by the government of that nation. This is important
because the government should have a majority voice
in the corporation. It is a privilege, not a right,
that these corporations are allowed in a country. Thus,
by allowing the government to have a majority voice in
the corporation, it can be ensured that the corporation
will works toward benefitting, not only the corporation,
but for the population as well. In conclusion, we
believe that development is a paramount issue and we
hope that nations concur with our general proposals on
this issue.
